The festive atmosphere of a wedding party turned into a terrifying situation when a suspension bridge suddenly collapsed, causing more than 50 guests to fall into the Chatel Damai river in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, on Thursday (1 January).
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the incident, which took place at about 2 PM, left a man with a broken leg, a child with head injuries and several others with minor injuries and shortness of breath.

Lata Rek village head, Mohd Zaki Saari, said that the incident occurred when the groom’s entourage collided with the bride’s guests on the bridge.
“I was informed that during the incident, more than 50 people were using the suspension bridge at the same time. The groom’s entourage from Pasir Puteh wanted to go back to their house while the bride’s guests had just arrived at the party,” he said.

Emergency services were deployed
Due to the severity of the situation, Mohd Zaki was informed, and an emergency call was made, where 4 ambulances arrived at the scene to assist those involved.
