As we may all know, there are a lot of problems with the public transportation system in Malaysia. From the waiting times and frequencies, to the faulty facilities and machines.

A post shared by Twitter user @xXpearlyXx recently highlighted how badly maintained our public facilities are. This is especially bad for OKUs and the elderly who depend and rely on well maintained public facilities to get anywhere.

The post tagged RapidKL and says, “The escalator and lift at LRT Ampang Park has been out of order since last year. I pity this OKU brother who has to climb the stairs.”

Accompanying the post is a picture of an OKU who was walking with crutches trying to get up the stairs to get to the LRT station.

RapidKL’s response

The post has garnered over 5,771 likes and 5,470 shares on the platform. It managed to capture the attention of RapidKL’s official account where they left a response in the comments section.

“Hai, the lift at the Ampang Park station is still under maintenance. Customers can request for help from staff at the counters. The staff will help,” responded RapidKL.

Netizens are outraged at RapidKL’s response

It appears that RapidKL’s response produced a result which they probably wouldn’t have ever desired. Netizens took to the comments section to slam them for their lack of helpfulness.

“Is the counter on top or at the bottom? What kind of brainless reply is this? So the man is supposed to shout to call the staff to come downstairs,” asked one user.

One user pointed out, “What exactly can the staff do to help?”

Is the staff supposed to carry him to the top or how? Why can’t the customer service be better for OKUs and the elderly? I doubt that the staff would actually help as even at the counters they are not helpful,” commented a netizen.
