Overweight individuals have always been subjected to teasing and salty comments by mean people. Instead of complaining, this woman decided to do something about it, and the result is absolutely inspiring.

Last year, a Malaysian woman embarked on a weight-loss journey after receiving salty comments from her friends and relatives. Within 12 months, her body weight plunged from 106kg to 64kg!

According to Sinchew, the 38-year-old married woman named Lee, said that she has always been mocked for not being compatible with her good-looking husband. Some strangers have even mistaken her for her husband’s mother and said to her face, “Is that your son?” Ouch!

Besides, Lee was perfectly aware of her obesity as she would be out of breath easily when walking and was unable to squat on the toilet.

“I’ve tried losing weight for more than 10 years, but I just don’t have the determination. I’ve tried taking fat-burning supplements to lose weight fast, but my body reacted drastically after I got off the pill. My body weight then skyrocketed to above 100kg,” Lee said.

“For the past 10 years, my body weight has been fluctuating and I’ve never really managed to slim down,” she added.

This time, motivated by the mean comments and her health concerns, she shouldered her way through the weight-loss journey and managed to shed 42kg in just a year! Her secret to losing weight sustainably is to do something that she is comfortable with.

“I tried to incorporate the food I like into my diet. For instance, I like oats, so I replaced rice with oats. Although I generally don’t like to exercise, I realised that I love listening to music while taking a slow jog,” Lee said.

Besides that, she also cut out sugar, starchy food and ice from her diet. Bye bye banana leaf rice :'(

When asked about her regrets, Lee said that due to her previous body size, she had to give up taking pre-wedding photos and holding a wedding dinner reception as she couldn’t fit into any wedding dresses.

“I didn’t even dare to dream about taking pictures in a wedding dress, so my husband and I only registered for our marriage,” she said.

Although she has made some impressive progress, she has no intentions to stop. In fact, the couple will most probably have a long-overdue post-wedding photoshoot and hold a wedding dinner when she is below 60kg next year.

Lee’s transformation has inspired many to join her in losing weight; she even set up a WeChat group to share her tips with members!

Eating clean is not an easy task especially with all the sinful food available in our country, the fact that she managed to pull it off is truly respectable.
