Is GST returning? According to one of the Ministers of Finance, Malaysians can stay calm because the Goods and Services Taxes will not return.
According to a report by Malaysia Gazette, Ahmad Maslan GST will not come back despite the demand for it, and Malaysians can forget about it because apparently Malaysians like to pay higher taxes.
“It turns out that the people like the number 10 compared to 6 when GST was in effect. I can’t grasp the mentality of Malaysians.”
Ahmad added that if all traders were really ethical, they would definitely support GST.
“If they are not transparent and have no ethics, no one likes it,” he said.
He said the Malaysian Manufacturers Association, Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce, and many others are on board with the idea of implementing GST again.
Acknowledging that the budget cuts are not as big, Ahmad said, the Government is doing its best to provide the best for Malaysians.
“This is the highest budget in history. All groups benefit. I know and am sure that the T20 team will not expect help.”
The Madani Government’s focus for the year 2024 is to focus on the implementation of targeted subsidies, as explained by PM Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Parliament.
At the moment, the government is organizing various ways such as the Development of the Main Data Base (PADU) system under the Ministry of Economy, as well as the Laksana agency under the Ministry of Finance which also has complete data on all Malaysians who receive aid.
