Having a pet is a responsibility, which means you’ll need to provide the pet with all of its basic needs such as food, water and shelter, just to name a few.
But, what is shelter? Shelter doesn’t necessarily mean a house, shelter could mean a shaded and comfortable place for it to sleep that protects it from rain and shine.
The Malaysia Animal Association took to their Facebook page to showcase pet dogs in Kajang, Selangor, that have not been provided with shelter as they’re forced to sit out in the heavy rain.
They wrote, “Although they have an owner, the fate of these dogs remain bad. What these four dogs have in common is that they have to go through hardships and bitterness because they are chained despite being within a compound. According to the complaint, these four dogs always have to deal with heat and rain outside the house without a dog house to shelter them from the hot sun and heavy rain.”
“The owner in Taman Sri Saga, Kajang, needs to understand the requirements of the Selangor Dog Licensing and Dog Breeding Licensing By-Laws 2007 on permission to keep four dogs in a compound yard and the need to provide a dog shelter for protection from rain and shine.”
One of the poor dogs can be seen sitting motionlessly as water drips heavily onto it from above.
“In addition, the conditions of dogs without protection, short chains and the absence of food and water are also in conflict with the Animal Welfare Act Improvement Regulations 2015.”
It’s truly sad to know that there are some pet owners out there who could make the idea of being a stray sound so good. At least strays could head off and find shelter where they please instead of being in chains by the hand of an irresponsible human being.
We genuinely hope that the authorities rescue these poor dogs.
