The Ministry of Education (MOE) issued a public apology over an error involving the display of the Jalur Gemilang in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination results analysis report that was released on April 24.
MOE admitted that the oversight is unacceptable as the Jalur Gemilang is a symbol of the country’s pride and sovereignty, and said it will be taking immediate and firm action against everyone involved.
“It should be handled according to the law”
In response, former Selangor Exco Datuk Teng Chang Khim took a jab at the government, calling for the suspension of the top official at the Education Ministry over the Jalur Gemilang error during the SPM results presentation, as reported by Sinar Harian.
He added how the matter should be handled according to the country’s standards, and those of a few so-called “patriots.”
He also urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to reaffirm that this is a serious matter and should be handled according to the law.

“Police should arrest the ministry’s top official”
Chang Khim also pointed out that the police should arrest the top official at the ministry and call in 40 others to have their statements recorded.
“The same people who went to protest at Sin Chew Daily’s office over the printing license issue should now head to the MOE headquarters to protest and demand that it be shut down,” he added.
Earlier, media reports stated that the Chief Editor and Deputy Chief Editor of Sin Chew Daily were arrested to assist in an investigation after the newspaper published an incomplete illustration of the Jalur Gemilang on its front page.
The Chinese-language daily had featured the image as part of its coverage of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia, but the Jalur Gemilang was missing its crescent moon.
