It’s part of the unspoken job scope of employers to deal with the possible dramas that they might encounter during the hiring process, and sometimes, after welcoming new blood onboard.
Just recently, Bryan, the founder of a hair salon in Ipoh shared a screenshot of a conversation that he had with a newly-hired staff, who started to ask for leave after 2nd day of joining the team. On the 2nd day of his employment, the staff asked for sick leave after he had sprained his waist.
The next day, the man asked permission to leave work early as he had a wedding to attend in Kuala Kangsar. On his 1st week of employment, Bryan was away in Japan for a trip, and 2 days later, the man told Bryan,
“Boss, I’ll come back to work when you’re here. I’m still in Kuala Kangsar and I can’t leave. Sorry.”
On his 6th day (March 13), Bryan received a resignation from the man via WhatsApp, who informed Bryan that he found another opportunity in Singapore.
“My mom is going to work as a hairstylist in Singapore and she’s bringing me along. I’m sorry.”
From the man’s 1st request until his resignation, Bryan’s response remains the same, which was an “Ok”.
According to Bryan’s Facebook post, the man, who is in his early 20s had been asking about the employment since September last year, until he was eventually hired in February. 6 months of effort wasted in just a matter of days.
Speaking to WORLF OF BUZZ, Bryan said texted the man on April 1 and asked him to come to the shop and take his 1-day salary, which amounted to RM84. The man initially wanted to take his salary online, but couldn’t do so when Bryan insisted that he come to the salon personally and take his salary.
“Your salary will be forfeited after 3 months. You can come here and take it anytime.”
However, Bryan told WORLD OF BUZZ that the man has yet to take his salary. He also said that he has seen a lot when it comes to hiring in the span of 12 years, and can’t deny that hiring process is nowhere near easy.
