A new Covid-19 cluster (Pulau Cluster) has been detected in Kunak, Sabah where a 68-year-old woman infected eight of her family members.

According to the Ministry of Health, the woman (9,940th case) was found unconscious at her home and taken to Kunak Hospital and later referred to Tawau hospital for treatment on 13 September. She suffers from a heart attack, stroke and liver disease.

However, her Covid-19 test was also found to be positive and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) needing respiratory assistance.

As a result of close contact screening and active case detection, eight others tested positive after coming into close contact with the woman. All eight cases are family members.
