A new Covid-19 cluster (Pulau Cluster) has been detected in Kunak, Sabah where a 68-year-old woman infected eight of her family members.
According to the Ministry of Health, the woman (9,940th case) was found unconscious at her home and taken to Kunak Hospital and later referred to Tawau hospital for treatment on 13 September. She suffers from a heart attack, stroke and liver disease.
However, her Covid-19 test was also found to be positive and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) needing respiratory assistance.
As a result of close contact screening and active case detection, eight others tested positive after coming into close contact with the woman. All eight cases are family members.
As of 15 September, 128 individuals in connection with this new cluster have been screened. 109 of them are citizens while 19 are non-citizens. The results of the active case detection are as follows:

Meanwhile, measures to prevent the spread of infection such as disinfection and cleaning processes have been carried out at the identified locations. The cause of infection is still under investigation and activities to control the transmission of infection for this cluster are actively being carried out.
