Last year today (August 23, 2022), former Prime Minister Najib Razak was sentenced to a 12-year prison sentence for corruption. Time really flies. Just this morning, Najib shared a heartfelt post and expressed his feelings after staying behind bars for 365 days.

In his Facebook post, Najib said that 1 year later, he is still behind bars and sleeping on the cold, cement floor. His only loyal companion is the prayer mat, which the former PM uses to pray and seek from the Almighty for lighter life challenges and calmness in life.

“From dawn till dusk, from sunrise till sunset, it’s always quiet.”

At the end of his FB post, Najib made a point and told the world that he’s all alone in jail.

“Alone. I know He is always there and never leaves anyone behind.”

In case you missed it, Najib was sentenced to 12 years of prison after he was found guilty of tampering with the funds of SRC International Sdn Bhd. In March this year, he was acquitted of the 1MDB audit tampering charge.

“We’re waiting for your release, Bossku”

In the meantime, Najib’s supporters took the opportunity to ease the former PM’s emotional burden by showing their support.

“Bossku, I’m sure many are waiting for your release. Please hang in there, there’s a reason for everything.”

“May God ease everything for you, Najib.”

“I pray for your health and may God bless you by easing everything for you.”

“I hope you’re strong for all these tests. Don’t give up although many people out there want you to stay where you are. Be patient, the time will come, in God’s will.”

“Every challenge has its end and the key is to be patient.”

Najib was 69 when he was sentenced to prison. Should he complete his 12-year prison sentence, Najib will be 81 when he comes out and see the world again, assuming he’s freed of all charges from other ongoing cases.
