Ever find yourself dreading to go to a public toilet in fear of it being extremely dirty?
Well this one Malaysian is here to make your life easier. Marissa Wong has been reviewing public toilets (mostly) here in Malaysia since the pandemic began so that you’ll know what to expect the next time you want to take a leak at a mall.
Marissa, a stand up comedian and content creator started her series of “Toilet Review” on TikTok and has since reviewed over 141 toilets!
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, she said that she often sees many food reviews uploaded online and was then inspired to start reviewing toilets instead as finding a good bathroom experience is also a necessity!
Marissa says that viewers online generally enjoy and appreciate her series. One of her most successful reviews was a video of her using a toilet at Kuala Lumpur International Airport last year. The video has around 27.1k likes!
The toilets are rated based on it’s general cleanliness, the availability of a bidet, tissue paper, bins, functionality of the toilet’s flush and other unique factors.
Marissa has reviewed toilets at One Utama, Pavilion and other famous spots, even restaurants in Ipoh! She has also been invited to talk on local radio stations to spread awareness on bathroom etiquette.
Safe to say, she is truly Malaysia’s “Queen Of Toilet”.
She told us that sometimes we Malaysians can’t have nice things because of the habits of a few bad apples that misuse public toilets.
Marissa has been to bathrooms at other countries in South East Asia and despite them all having bidets, the bathroom floors are generally “dry and not wet or dirty like the floors of public toilets here in Malaysia”.
“I would like to remind Malaysians to please appreciate our public toilets and to not destroy them just because it’s not your home. If you want nice toilets, please actually appreciate the toilets and take care of it as if it’s your own house”
When asked to list her top 3 best public toilets here in Malaysia, Marissa first mentioned Petron petrol station’s toilets as they have ventilators inside to keep it dry. Next time you’re on the road and need to stop by a petrol station to use their bathroom… you know which one to head to!
She also mentioned that she finds the bathroom at The Gardens Mall to be worth it despite the RM5 entry charge. She says the RM5 is to use the bathrooms at any time throughout 1 whole day and it is equipped with fancy lotions and other toiletries for people to use.
The third toilet is none other than KLIA’s washrooms, famously known even by international tourists to be a great design for public toilets.
