Following last week’s disruption on the LRT Kelana Jaya line, the MRT Putrajaya line experienced a major service breakdown this morning (3 March) during peak hours.
Frustrated commuters, many of whom had left home earlier to avoid delays, took to social media to voice their disappointment as platforms grew increasingly crowded and train frequencies were delayed.

Commuter frustrations peak
“I’ve been waiting for 50 minutes,” one Threads user vented, noting she had been standing for nearly an hour and still had not hopped onto a train.
Other affected commuters reported being instructed to disembark at Metro Prima station and make alternative travel arrangements, as only one platform was operational.

Another user likened the crowds to “sardines” due to the significant delays.
Meanwhile, LRT users reported that the Kelana Jaya line suffered yet another disruption this morning. One commuter shared that Pasar Seni station was heavily congested, expressing frustration over recurring service interruptions.
“We’re late, and the e-hailing fares are too expensive. It would’ve been better if we were told about the disruptions in advance, but no,” one commuter remarked.
Others noted that “the train stopped midway during peak hours.”
RapidKL response
As of 9:00 AM, RapidKL issued a statement via Facebook confirming that trains from Putrajaya Sentral will turn back at Metro Prima, with a frequency of approximately six minutes.
Current shuttle arrangements include:
- Kwasa Damansara to Damansara Damai: Frequency of eight minutes.
- Damansara Damai to Metro Prima: Frequency of eight minutes.
Regarding the Kelana Jaya line, RapidKL cited a train door system disruption at the KLCC station as the primary cause for the delay.
Cable theft suspected
In a separate official statement, the rail company mentioned that the MRT Putrajaya line delay is believed to have been caused by stolen cables, resulting in a power disruption between the Sungai Buloh and Damansara Damai stations.
Unfortunately, RapidKL could not provide a specific timeline for the restoration of service, as the incident necessitates massive-scale repair works. These repairs are expected to continue until the end of the day.

Consequently, commuters are advised to seek alternative routes to reach their destinations.
