During the Covid-19 pandemic, doctors were championed as frontliners for their dedication to keeping us safe from the virus. But, there was also another group of people who were upheld as frontliners!

Food delivery riders received much appreciation from the general public at that time as they had tirelessly worked to ensure we were fed in our homes while restaurants were unable to open for dine-in.

Now, it appears that food delivery riders will once again be championed, this time at the Merdeka Day Parade! The StratCommProBono X page recently shared footage of the Merdeka Day parade rehearsals in Putrajaya, where Grab was seen to be a part of the parade along with their riders!

StratCommProBono wrote, “It is surprising to see Grab and GXBank at the Merdeka Day rehearsals. They looked a little awkward, but it’s okay, they are first-timers!”

In the video showcased, Grab staff could be seen marching on foot while waving the Jalur Gemilang at the Merdeka Day parade rehearsals, with their food delivery riders on their motorcycles as well as GrabCars following closely behind.

Surprise, surprise?

Grab also apparently has something special planned for the people when the big day comes!

“While chatting with the people from Grab earlier, they said that they have a surprise that they’re planning on sharing on Merdeka Day. Those of you who are coming to Dataran Putrajaya, don’t forget to hurry and get a spot up close!”

We’re so glad to see food delivery riders, who brave our insane Malaysian weather on a daily basis, getting the recognition that they deserve.

We cannot wait to see what Grab has in store for us on Merdeka Day!
