Promises are meant to be kept once you’ve made them, and sometimes, regardless of how embarrassing it can get.
Malaysian singer and YouTuber, Choo Hao Ren kept his promise yesterday on the 1st day of CNY 2024, by strolling around his residential area in red underwear and a red cape. In case you missed it, Hao Ren came up with this bizarre promise all thanks to legendary Hong Kong comedian and filmmaker, Stephen Chow.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Hao Ren woke up in the morning and got down to see his family member in his bright red underwear and cape, as well as a nude-colored t-shirt that resembled the shape of a naked muscular body.
After “scaring” his family members in his “Superman” outfit, Hao Ren decided to patrol his housing area on his e-scooter, with his red underwear and cape on. His family members also tagged along at the back of the seat.
Hao Ren, however, did not do that for too long and he did not travel too far in his Superman outfit as he did not want to bear any unwanted consequences. It was merely to keep a promise and what a way to kickstart the year of the Dragon!
Earlier this year, Hao Ren and his fellow team of singers, known as the Steady Gang released a new music video for the CNY, titled 《周星翅》 “Zhou Xing Chi”, a wordplay on Stephen’s full name. The music video of the song features Hao Ren and others in various costumes of the characters from Stephen’s movies in the 90s, which serves as a “love letter” to his movies.
