A 31-year-old woman was allegedly repeatedly abused by her husband, to the point where she was forced to jump off the balcony of their 2-storey home in Jenjarom, Selangor, resulting in multiple severe fractures.

According to a report by Oriental Daily, the woman decided to hold a press conference yesterday (January 23), with the help of Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, to reveal her husband’s apparent abuse to save herself and their son.

“In the 10 years since my husband and I got married, the domestic violence has become more and more serious. Now, he has hurt our child so I can no longer tolerate it and decided to hold a press conference to expose his evil deeds,” she said.

She went on to explain that there are 3 main reasons she decided to go public about this:

  1. To protect the safety of their 10-year-old son.
  2. She fears that someone would “deal with her” as her husband is apparently well-connected and has a wide network of contacts.
  3. She fears that her husband will spread the sexual videos and photos he had allegedly forced her to shoot.

“My husband has a special fetish. He likes to take sex videos and collect them. If I don’t do what he wants, he will abuse me and treat me coldly. That’s why I dare not resist him. When I reported this case (to the police), I also informed the investigating officer of this. I hope they can solve this problem for me,” she added.

She allegedly almost died at the hands of her husband.

She pointed out that in March 2023, she had returned to their home to gather her belongings but her husband apparently proceeded to lock her in their bedroom and force her to sign a divorce agreement.

As the terms in the agreement were not in her favour, she decided not to sign it and asked her husband to discuss the details of the agreement later.

This apparently led to her husband strangling her, beating her and threatening her while locking her in the bedroom. Fearing for her safety, she then jumped from the balcony to escape, causing fractures to her back and legs.

Following months of rehabilitation, she was left with sequelae and ugly scars on her back.

“I took my son home to take care of him after this incident and informed my parents-in-law and my husband’s relatives about what happened. However, not only did no one come forward to seek justice, but they also protected my husband. I feel very sad,” she explained.

Her husband would allegedly fool around with another woman in their home

Additionally, she shared that, during their separation, her husband would apparently disallow her from entering their home to take her personal belongings. He would also allegedly bring another woman into their home to “fool around”.

This was apparently discovered by their son, who went home to get his textbooks.

“My husband was naked at the time. He was very surprised when he found us returning home. He did not allow me to enter the bedroom to check and treated me and my son violently. I also reported this incident to the police, and my son also stood up to testify against his father’s evil deeds,”

“(To my) mum and dad, don’t worry about me anymore. I have decided to face everything and testify against my husband’s evil deeds. I hope to get justice,” she added.

With the press conference, she hopes that other women facing domestic violence will also bravely stand up and expose their partners to avoid harm to themselves and their children.
