A Malaysian man intended to visit his father in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur 4 years after they last spoke to each other. Unfortunately, all he found were the skeletal remains of his dad instead.

The skeletal remains were found on a mattress in an apartment in Kepong on September 5, and the image of the remains went viral on social media.

Sentul district’s Chief Police Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari confirmed that the son last spoke to his father in 2020. The 72-year-old deceased was staying alone in the apartment after he divorced his wife.

His son had to break open the door

Upon arrival, the deceased’s son couldn’t enter the unit as the door was locked. He had to seek help from the Security Exco of the apartment, who broke down the unit’s door at the son’s request.

The pair then found the skeletal remains on the mattress.

“We couldn’t determine how long the man had passed away. The deceased had a history of high blood pressure and stroke. Autopsy had been completed and the skeletal remains have been passed to the family members for funeral purposes,” Ahmad said in a statement.

In another report, 1 of the deceased neighbours revealed that she walked by the unit every day for the past 4 years but surprisingly, she had not smelled any foul odour from the unit.

“I have never suspected anything, but I was surprised to hear that skeletal remains were found in the unit,” she said.

It’s gut-wrenching to even imagine being in the situation, and not knowing when will be the last time we speak to someone.
