As much as we love our mothers, not everyone is good with words of affirmation like “I love you”. Kids and teenagers, especially, excel in acts of service.
A Malaysian student who had just completed his SPM recently visited a jewelry shop in Shah Alam and asked the workers what he could buy with RM500 at hand. The staff thought it was a gift for his GF but the teen had someone else in his mind, according to a Facebook post by Suamiku Imamku Isteriku Makmumku.
“It’s for my mother. Today is her birthday,” he told the lady worker excitedly.
She was touched by his answer but still, she couldn’t help but wonder where did he get the money, which she politely asked the teen.
“I got it from my part time job of fixing air-conditioners. I’ve always wanted to get my mum a ring and I’ve finally got enough amount.”
The worker, however, was kind enough to leave some “leftovers” for the kid because she didn’t want him to spend all on the jewelry. She suggested he get a ring that was worth RM300, so that he could have the remaining RM200 for his use.
The teen, however, insisted that he wanted something RM500.
“It’s alright, auntie. I want to use this money for my mum. I want to make her happy.”
What a sweet, sweet boy!
The woman did her best to hide her tears from the heartfelt conversation and eventually suggested the teen another ring that was still cheaper than RM500, which he eventually bought.
“He finally agreed to buy the ring I suggested, and he was so happy. I couldn’t forget the smile he had on his face when he left.”
The woman decided to share this story because she was touched by the teen’s dedication and love for his mum.
“Kid, I wish you well in life and may God ease things for you. A great kid from a great mum.”
As adults, how do you convey your love to your parents? What was the best gift that you have got for your parents?
