A mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) has come under scrutiny after social media users shared alleged experiences of double standards and unsatisfactory treatment by senior members of the congregation.
In an official statement issued yesterday (27 February), the management of Masjid At-Taqwa posted a public apology on Threads and assured the public that the matter is being taken seriously, with investigations currently underway into the alleged mistreatment of congregants.

How did it all start?
Earlier, a social media user who visited Masjid At‑Taqwa for iftar posted on Threads inviting others to join, as many slots were still available. The man also complimented the food served at the mosque and the overall environment.
However, the Threads user did not expect his iftar invitation to turn into a space for others to “spill the tea” by sharing their grievances and experiences.

Social media users who had visited the mosque before claimed that not only was the worship space not child‑friendly, but many had also been treated poorly by the “seniors” at the mosque. One person even mentioned “an ongoing political manoeuvre” happening there.

The management initially issued a statement clarifying that the photo shared online was taken before the crowd arrived at around 7 PM. Masjid At‑Taqwa also stated that up to 1,000 congregants take part in the daily iftar, adding that approximately RM450,000 has been allocated for iftar and moreh (light refreshments served after night prayers) throughout the month of Ramadan.
“We’re sorry, and we’ll fix the situation.”

Following their first lengthy statement, the management of Masjid At‑Taqwa released another brief statement apologising for the matter, saying they would take action to address the issues raised.
“We’re looking into the claims of poor treatment towards the congregants, and we will make sure that history does not repeat itself. We thank you for your trust and support.”
