We don’t know about you, but ‘Dragon Ball Z’ was one of our favourite animes to watch back in the day. So, imagine our surprise when we found out about this cake seller who dresses as Goku while at work!
Meet Roslan Mustaffa (known affectionately as ‘Pok Lam’), a 50-year-old cake seller who went viral in Terengganu when he was spotted selling kuih menganang and kuih bakar along Jalan Bukit Bayas dressed as the famous anime character. He soon gained a lot more customers thanks to that viral post, and cannot believe how much positive attention he has gotten from wearing the costume.
“To be honest, I only wanted to dress in this costume for fun because my whole family and I love this anime (‘Dragon Ball Z’),” he told Sinar Harian.
“I went to KL with my family one day and decided to buy this costume while I was there.”
It’s not just Pok Lam who cosplays at the stall either, because his two sons also dress up as Naruto and Sasuke from ‘Naruto’!
“My children dress up when they help me out at the stall during their school holidays,” the cake seller added.
Pok Lam definitely feels fulfilled and loves that his costume entertains customers.
“I feel like this costume is definitely worth the price. There are some costumes that cost more than RM100, while others cost more than RM200. The price for the entire Goku costume (including his hair) can cost up to RM500,” Pok Lam told the daily.
As for the future, he plans to dress up as the beloved anime character throughout Ramadan this year to perk up his customers.
“I actually meant to wear this costume throughout this year’s fasting month. So, this was supposed to be a trial period. However, it looks like a lot of people are liking it because it’s something different from what you see at regular stalls.”
“Insya Allah, I can get more people to work at my stall dressed as different anime characters to entertain our customers!”
It’s great to see someone working hard to put smiles on other peoples’ faces. However, we think Pok Lam should consider selling VEGETAbles at his stall! (Sorry, we had to!)
