Local influencer and TikToker, Faiz Soul, was recently invited to a primary school in Kedah to officiate its “Academic Awards” ceremony, but this did not sit well with many netizens.

In one of his social media posts, Faiz remarked that despite not being an elected representative, he was invited to officiate the ceremony at the school, where he also mingled with the teachers and the students.

Netizens question why an influencer was invited to officiate a ceremony at a Kedah primary school

In the video that he shared, Faiz was also seen giving speeches, giving and receiving awards.

Netizens, on the other hand, were baffled as to why someone without notable academic qualifications was invited to officiate the ceremony. One of them even questioned what Faiz has contributed to society, or his academic achievements.

“Yes, I didn’t finish my Diploma, here’s why”

Faiz Soul, whose name is Muhammad Faiz, is well aware of the criticisms online, and in his explanation video today (8 December), Faiz clarified that he was not at the school as an influencer, but as a businessman.

In his post, Faiz clarified that he only has a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualification, as he dropped out of his Diploma studies to take care of his family members.

“I have my products, I have my business. I make money on my own. I have never received any funds from the Government.”

Faiz, however, said that the matter has been politicised as Kedah, where the school is, is full of “politics”. As netizens urged answers from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Faiz told the Ministry that he was there to show support to the students and encourage them to pursue their education.

“I didn’t speak about politics. I’m not a politician. I told them to continue their studies,” Faiz explained.
