A lot of people have the habit of buying lottery tickets or Magnum 4D thinking they have a shot at becoming crazy rich Asians overnight. However, that’s not always the case, which is why this Malaysian father decided to save up all the money he would otherwise spend on buying 4D, and you’d be surprised by how much he had saved in just a year.

On 5 January 2019, the daughter named Eilin Tan shared her father’s unique money-saving technique on Facebook and her post received over 4,500 shares in just a few days’ time. Here’s the brief translation of what she wrote.

“Since 1 January 2018, he made it a point to quit buying 4D and saved up all the money he would normally spend on buying 4D. After a year, this is his result and honestly, I was shocked by it as well.”

“When he started counting the savings in 2019, the amount was equivalent to the top prize!” Eilin said.

Although the total amount of savings wasn’t disclosed, netizens with 20/20 vision tried to estimate it and came up with various figures. Some said the bundles of cash and the bag of coins are worth about RM6,000 while others estimated it to be worth RM15,000.

Another netizen also pointed out that if the man continues with this practice, he’d be winning the top prize every year! It’s true, isn’t it?

Well, we congratulate the father for ‘winning’ the top prize and hopefully, he can continue practising this habit. Know anyone who draws inspiration from car number plates or anything that has four digits? Share this article with them!
