A video went viral recently, showing a man casually handing out banknotes to visitors of a popular beach in Melaka.
In the clip, the man could be seen holding a stack of cash and asking visitors to wave at him; and anyone who did received RM100!

“Anyone who waves their hand will receive RM100”
According to Sinar Harian, the man was revealed to be Malaysian businessman Datuk Salim Abdul Rahman, who visited the beach alongside Hulu Langat Member of Parliament (MP) Mohd Sany Hamzan.
Taking place at Klebang Beach, members of the public could be seen queuing excitedly to receive the cash.
“Anyone who waves their hand will receive RM100. If you don’t, you won’t get anything,” Salim is heard saying in the video.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sany could be heard reminding recipients not to take the money more than once, so that other visitors would have a chance.

The video has since sparked reactions and questions among netizens, with many praising his act of kindness

“Some people even complain when you give money. Thank you, Datuk Salim, for giving RM100 to everyone.”

“Datuk Salim is the best.”

“What’s wrong with donating money to the public?”
However, sceptics questioned the nature of the gift and the motives behind it

“Where did he get that kind of money?”

“He’s generous, but he needs to declare his assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM).”

“I wonder where he came by that much money.”
