It appears that the trend of enforcing ridiculous dress codes and attire policing is still happening as a woman was recently barred from entering a hospital in Kuantan for wearing a pair of knee-length pants.
In a video which had been circulating on Twitter, a guard at the hospital is seen apologising to the woman for not allowing her to enter the hospital and saying that he would be reprimanded by his superiors if he were to allow her to enter.
Whilst the woman looked confused, the man behind the camera pans towards the guard and confronts him over not letting the woman enter the hospital due to the length of her pants.
The guard then defended himself by saying that he was merely carrying out the rules set by the management.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the incident is believed to have taken place at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA).
A misunderstanding
A statement was later released by Pahang Health director Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus to clear the air regarding the matter.
According to a report by BERNAMA, the incident was caused by a misunderstanding on the dress code by the guard.
“So far, no problem has arisen for visitors who are dressed in such a way to enter during visiting hours, except for those who are not decently dressed.”
“HTAA has taken appropriate measures to make the security guards understand that they should not take any enforcement action without official instructions from the hospital,” she explained.
