“It breaks our hearts. It’s like our hardwork have gone down the drain.”
A Malaysian actor, Azhan Rani recently expressed on his Instagram @azhan_rani what he felt after seeing a comment about how a fan “enjoys” his ongoing TV show – by watching illegally on Telegram. To Azhan, there is no need for anyone to “announce” how they watch a show illegally online.
“It’s only RM15 per month to subscribe. You can stop anytime, and if it’s too expensive for you, it’s okay if you don’t want to watch.”
The actor said the “public announcement” about watching TV shows illegally on Telegram is not only heartbreaking but also makes the casts and crews feel unappreciated.
“We started shooting last November and even until today, we’re still working on it. It breaks our hearts to see this, it’s like our hard work are not worth it. You won’t understand because it’s not your work that’s getting pirated.”
In the comment, the fan happily said that he has been watching the show via the small screen with his kids on Telegram, and they had binge-watched it until the 7th episode.
“Drugs are illegal but people are doing them anyway”
In another IG post, Azhan shared another screenshot of a comment that said,
“Why pay when you can get it for free? Some of us merely want free stuff. Sue Telegram if you want to.”
Azhan had no choice but to give up on reminding those who enjoy watching shows illegally. To him, he has done his part in reminding the audience about the hard work of the crews and despite the presence of laws that obviously prohibit illegal downloads, people are still violating them.
“It’s not your work, so you won’t understand. Drugs are illegal, but people are doing them anyway. Some people just won’t learn,” Azhan sighed.
Azhan’s ongoing TV show – Khunsa is currently playing on Astro.
It never feels good to see your work NOT getting the appreciation and respect that it deserves.
