As Malaysia moves towards a more relaxed Movement Control Order (MCO) come 4th May 2020, reports of another wet market closure due to the Covid-19 outbreak will certainly leave you thinking that the conditional MCO is not what we need right now.
Reported in The Star, the Pasar Taman Tasek Tambahan has been closed for disinfection after one of the trader’s employee was tested positive for Covid-19.
Announcing the closure, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) President Datuk Abdul Hamid Hussain said that the closure began yesterday (Saturday May 2) and is expected to end on Tuesday (May 5)
Sanitising and cleaning procedures are currently underway under the purview of the Hulu Langat District Health Office.
“The district health office has instructed that the market be closed for three days, starting May 2.”
“MPAJ is carrying out cleaning works at the market while the health office will be conducting screening tests for all the traders and staff.”
The individual who was affected was found positive following a voluntary test which was done a few days ago.
As we are only one day away from a more relaxed MCO, let’s hope that we are more disciplined in following the rules set in place for the sake of our own health.
