The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) is all set to work closely with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after an incident occurred following the arrest of three doctors.
MOH issued a statement, confirming their full cooperation with the investigation into three senior doctors recently arrested by the enforcement agency in Penang.
The doctors are allegedly part of a cartel that falsified SOCSO disability claims
The statement also revealed that the Ministry of Health found out about the arrest of 3 senior doctors who are allegedly involved in a cartel that falsified disability claims from SOCSO.
The Ministry said,
“MOH is always ready to work closely with MACC regarding the arrest of these doctors.”
They also made it clear that any misuse of power won’t be tolerated and they’re committed to taking the right steps to keep public health services top-notch.
Police have arrested a total of 32 SOCSO contributors
Berita Harian reported Tan Sri Azam Baki, the Chief Commissioner of MACC, shared that besides the three doctors, they’ve also arrested 19 other SOCSO contributors.
Additionally, 8 agents, medical officers, and 2 “runners'” were picked up in recent MACC raids related to the case.
“Most of those arrested work in factories and ports around the state, and we’re expecting more arrests as the investigation moves forward.”
Azam also confirmed the arrest of three doctors, 2 who were working at hospitals in Seberang Jaya and 1 in Bukit Mertajam, all in connection with the same case.
