According to the Ministry of Health (KKM), children aged 12 years old and below do not have to wear face masks to school, but wearing face shields still remains mandatory.

Face Shield

Previously on 10 August, Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that the government was currently looking into the use of face shields over face masks for school children.

With face shield, you only have to buy it once and it can be used again once it is washed and cleaned. It can also last up to four or five months, which saves more cost compared to face masks.

On 25 August 2020, the Ministry of Health (KKM) finally announced on Twitter that children who are 12 years old or below allowed to only wear face shields to school.

Even so, parents and school staff are still responsible for always taking care of the children, as well as reminding them of the importance of complying to the government’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
