62yo Perak Retiree Wins RM11.8 Million Jackpot After Betting on Grandchildren’s Birth Certificate Numbers

A retired salesman from Perak became an overnight millionaire after winning the RM11.8 million Sports Toto 4D Jackpot 1 prize, using numbers taken from his grandchildren’s birth certificates.

The 62-year-old, who typically spends between RM10 and RM20 per draw, placed his winning bet on the numbers “1660” and “5093”.

According to a statement by Sports Toto, the winner, who has been playing for over 30 years, intends to use the winnings wisely, with a focus on securing a better future for his family.

“My grandchildren have brought so much joy and happiness to our family, but I never imagined they would one day change our lives in such an extraordinary way,” he said.

Reflecting on the moment he discovered his win, he admitted he was overwhelmed with disbelief. He kept checking the results repeatedly to ensure they were correct before finally breaking the news to his family.

Penang man wins RM3.5 million

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old retired construction worker from Penang also struck it big, walking away with RM3.5 million in the Star Toto 6/50 Jackpot 1 draw on 10 June. His winning numbers were 3, 8, 11, 25, 38, and 42.

The winner said he regularly checks lottery results via the Sports Toto mobile app and initially thought he had misread the numbers.

He shared that the windfall would help ease his financial worries in retirement, adding that he plans to place the money in fixed deposits to generate a steady stream of income.
