It’s no secret that Nga Kor Ming has spent a lot of time and effort to emphasise the importance of clean toilets in public spaces, schools, airports and more.
And now that the year is soon coming to an end, he has decided to hold a ceremony to celebrate and champion locations that have upheld cleanliness to the highest standard.
The Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister took to his X account to showcase the Toilet of the Year Awards 2024, which was held at a hotel ballroom in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday (November 14).
He wrote, “In our country’s efforts to combat filth, KPKT is always at the forefront.”
“Tonight, the TOILET OF THE YEAR Awards 2024 was successfully completed with 659 entries in 7 categories including hotels, F&B (food and beverage industry), R&R (rest and refreshment facilities at highways), schools, petrol stations, shopping malls and local authorities.”
According to a Facebook post by KPKT, each category will only have 1 winner and that winner will receive a cash prize of RM20,000, a trophy as well as a certificate.
Here are the winners for each category:
- Petrol station: BHPetrol Ladang Bikam Northbound, Sungkai, Perak.
- Shopping mall: Sunway Carnival Mall, Seberang Jaya, Penang.
- Hotel: Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
- R&R: R&R Machap Northbound, PLUS Highway, Kluang, Johor.
- F&B: Andaman Seafood Village, Kuala Lumpur.
- PBT: MITC public toilet, Majlis Perbandaran Hang Tuah Jaya, Melaka.
- School: SMK Merbau, Miri, Sarawak.
