The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued an orange level bad weather warning with heavy rain expected to continue in Kelantan and Terengganu until Saturday (December 18).

The department has also issued a yellow level cautious weather warning as continuous rain is also expected for Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Pahang until Saturday too.

In the same statement, for Perak, the continuous rain warning is for Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar while for Pahang, the areas are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut and Kuantan.

MetMalaysia also explained that the low-pressure weather that formed in the waters of the South China Sea is the reason behind the continuous rain and potentially increase the risk of flooding in the low-lying areas of the affected area.
