The Melaka Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized a Mercedes-Benz sedan worth a whopping RM700,000 after it was discovered not to have a valid Motor Vehicle License (LKM), more commonly known as road tax, and insurance.
Taking to its Facebook page, JPJ Melaka shared that the confiscation took place during the recently conducted Ops HRA 2026 enforcement operation.

The department stated:
“Inspection results found that the vehicle committed a serious road traffic offence, namely that its LKM had expired and it did not have valid insurance coverage.
“Further checks found that the vehicle was registered in the name of an individual who is the owner of a company.”
“Accordingly, the vehicle was seized and taken to the JPJ Melaka Detention Depot for further action in accordance with the provisions of the law in force,” the statement added.
Get your ducks in a row
JPJ Melaka went on to stress that enforcement operations will continue to be intensified from time to time, to ensure compliance with road laws and to guarantee the safety of all road users. Hence, the public is advised to make sure they have all the necessary documents in order for their vehicles.
“The public is reminded to always ensure that their vehicles have valid LKMs and are covered by insurance to avoid strict action being taken,” they added.
