Being the first Malay mechanic at the MotoGP World Championship (MotoGP), 37-year-old Habibtullah Mohamad Fuad has built a brilliant career with the RNF MotoGP team.
He also does not consider communications as a problem or obstacle in this.
According to a report by BERNAMA, the father of 3, who started with the RNF MotoGP team last season, shared that his job with the team required him to understand and speak not only English but also Spanish and Italian as most of his colleagues at the pit stop were Spanish and Italian nationals.
“Before this I didn’t know how to speak Italian but since this year, I know a little bit since my engineer is from there,” he said.
“As for the Spanish language, I have been interacting (in Spanish) for 8 years since I have been with the crew from Spain in the Moto2 scene since 2014,” he added.
Growing up in a family of motorsports
“My father is a motorcross racer, from there I was influenced by the world of motoring. I became a mechanic from the age of 14 in a race in Batu Tiga, Shah Alam and that’s where it all started,” he explained.
Though sadly, his career in motorsports has caused him to sacrifice time with his loved ones due to having a busy schedule throughout the year.
“A total of 21 races need to be completed this year, if you consider time, there is not much with the family. Fortunately, there is video call technology to cure homesickness to them,” he added.
Born and bred in Parit Buntar, Perak, Habib has since advised the younger generation who are interested in working behind the scenes in motorsports to not give up on chasing their dreams.
