Media Prima has confirmed that a staff member from New Straits Times (NST) who recently returned from covering the Sabah State Elections has tested positive for Covid-19.
“The staff had just returned from carrying out editorial duties in Sabah on 30 September and underwent a mandatory Covid-19 test conducted by the Ministry of Health,” said Media Prima in a statement cited by Berita Harian.
“The staff has also been in voluntary quarantine at home since returning from Sabah, even before testing positive for Covid-19. They have not been to Media Prima since returning from Sabah.” The staff member is currently undergoing treatment in a government hospital.
The media company is currently working closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to take preventive measures that will minimise the potential of other staff getting infected. Meanwhile, Media Prima has assured the public that all staff who are returning from Sabah have undergone the mandatory Covid-19 test and will undergo a 14-day voluntary quarantine at home.
