Malaysia’s health director-general, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah has reported that despite the easing of our current Movement Control Order (MCO), the government is strengthening the country’s border control in a move to further eradicate the Covid-19 virus from Malaysia.

In a press conference today (1 May), he emphasized that those coming into Malaysia from overseas must be quarantined for the designated 14 days before going through testing.

“Unlike other countries, when they lift MCOs, they lift everything,” he said.

“So today, we have eased the restrictions (of the MCO) but we’ve strengthened our border control.”

“I think it is very important for us to continue to strengthen our border control. Those coming back or coming into our country must be quarantined for two weeks and (get) swabbed.”

“The intention and objective of the MCO is to flatten the curve, and we’ve achieved that. Now we are in the next phase, and the next phase is to manage the virus in our community,” he added.

We should do our best to cooperate with authorities so that together, we can prevent any further outbreaks and ensure our total freedom from the deadly disease.
