Before the fatal stabbing took place, Lee was reportedly eating with a female friend on the first floor of the restaurant, according to Pasir Mas District Police Chief, Asst Comm Ibrahim Saad. He went on to say,

“While they were eating, a man in his 30s who was carrying a backpack, approached the two and spoke to them briefly. A few seconds later, he suddenly took out a knife.”

“The suspect immediately stabbed the victim in his chest and back.”

The victim then ran and fell down the stairs, where he later died. Meanwhile, the suspect ran out the back door of the restaurant.
