Earlier last Thursday (27th June), a tweet showing pictures of a condolence card began to go viral.
The photos showed a condolence card that read “So very sorry for your loss” written on the front, with “My last day at work is the 28th (of) July” written inside.
The Twitter user who shared the photo stated in the tweet that the card was actually her colleague’s notice of resignation that he gave to his boss. Walao!

According to Business Insider, the man who handed in his notice, 22-year-old Sam Baines from the United Kingdom, intended to resign after working at his current job for about a year because he will be returning to university later in September. He told the news outlet,
“We are a really close team and have a fantastic manager, so we’re always joking around and having fun. I knew I had to do something a little more creative when giving my notice to try and get one more joke in before I left! I knew my boss would find it funny, so I wasn’t worried about how they’d take it.”
“I came up with the idea because I was always joking about how much they’d miss me when I was gone, then thought a condolences card would be the perfect way to finish it off.”
“It went down great and helped make a positive from an otherwise sad situation.”
What is perhaps even more amusing is that a significant number of Twitter users also shared similar stories of them quitting their jobs. Looks like this guy wasn’t the first one to come up with this idea!
