Admittedly, most Malaysians don’t see eye to eye with how our government spends the tax payers’ money.
However, to our surprise, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank have recently praised Malaysia for our strategic economic planning in executing both long-term and short-term economic plans, according to The Malay Mail Online.
In fact, the economic planning of Malaysia was said to be one of the best in the world. On top of that, our minister was said to have done a job so good that it’s on par with other Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries.
This good news was conveyed by both IMF and World Bank to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan in a meeting two weeks ago.
Besides breaking the good news to the reporters, Abdul Rahman also applauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s recent remarks. It seemed that Malaysia is on its right track towards achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030 agenda.
“We are committed to doubling the average income of the B40 households from US$700 (RM3,066) in 2014 to US$1,500 (RM6,570) and increase the participation of women in the workforce to 59 per cent by 2020,” he said.
However, Malaysian netizens begged to differ.
“Did you know that we’re also the world’s best in wasting public funds and accepting donation?” a netizen said.
“It’s hard to believe anything in Bolehland,” another netizen commented.
Well, what do y’all think? Are we really as good as what IMF praised us to be or the other way around?
