Many people all over the world like to buy lottery tickets in order to “have a chance” at winning an incredible sum of money.

Throughout the years, we’ve heard many stories but this one is really one that made us think: “Wow, this person is so lucky!”

According to The Cover, a lottery shop owner, Mr Zhu struck gold when he mistyped a lottery ticket and couldn’t sell it.

Lottery Shop Owner

It is said that this took place at about 8pm on 3 May when a regular female customer of 5-6 years came in to buy lottery tickets.

She stared at the monitor for a long time before making up her mind on what numbers to buy. She then told him the numbers and he typed it. Mr Zhu remarked that she must have been in a rush as she would normally write down the numbers.

When he gave them to her, she said that she wanted to play the 3-digit lottery, not the 5-digit lottery. So, he reprinted the numbers in the order that she wanted and tried to convince her to buy the misprinted one as well.

“Why don’t you take this as well? Maybe you’ll really win,” he told her at that time.

Lottery Winning Ticket

However, the woman was adamant and Mr Zhu had to cover the cost of the ticket by paying 18 yuan (RM11.60) from his own pocket.

Later on that night, the woman texted him and said that he had won the lottery with the misprinted lottery tickets. Thinking that it might be too much of a coincidence, he texted the other lottery shop owners to confirm.

Lo and behold, he actually won 300,000 yuan (RM193,000), so the next day, he went to the Sichuan Provincial Sports Lottery Management Center and got the prize money. After deducting the taxes, it came up to 240,000 yuan (RM154,000).

Lottery Prize Money

Mr Zhu said that when he had to pay for the mistyped ticket, he felt a little unhappy but it all worked out as he got lucky.

It is said that mistyped tickets are common and sometimes, customers do purchase them but most of the time, Mr Zhu would need to pay for them from his own pocket.

As for how he will be using the money, he said that it will be used to prepare for his son’s wedding.

This certainly sounds like pure luck! We wish we had luck half as good as his.
