The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has reminded all taxpayers in the country to check on their tax arrears before planning to go abroad this Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

In a statement, the board also recommended taxpayers check on their travel restrictions before travelling overseas or face the potential of being barred from travelling by the Immigration Department.

LHDN then stressed that travel restriction is the last resort if a taxpayer fails to pay their outstanding taxes, be it individuals or companies.

Moreover, the board will also provide various reminders and notices before the action of travel restriction is taken.

The statement added that taxpayer can check their status at the MyTax portal and for travel restrictions at the Immigration Department website.

LHDN asserted that it is always open to helping out taxpayers and is committed to the Awareness, Education and Services (AES) approach.

Hence, taxpayers can contact LHDN officers that handle tax files to negotiate for instalment payments to enable them to continue their overseas travel.
