Lace up, KL runners — the Kuala Lumpur City Day Half Marathon is making its ninth comeback on 4 May 2025!

More than 10,000 runners have already signed up for the half marathon, with MORE expected on the way — can you imagine running alongside over 12,000 participants on the streets of KL?

Here’s everything you need to know about KL City Day Half Marathon 2025:

1. The most challenging edition yet!

The running trail for this year’s edition will be a challenging one. Conquer some of the city’s most iconic routes, notably Bukit Tunku’s hilly, arduous terrain, and flag off (and finish) at Dataran Merdeka, with the Sultan Abdul Samad Building as a historical Insta-worthy backdrop.

2. Four categories, endless bragging rights

Sounds daunting? You don’t need to be an elite athlete to join the KL City Day Half Marathon 2025! They’ve prepared 4 different categories for every type of runner:

  • Half Marathon (21km) – Flag-off at 4AM (very early birds get the scenic worm)
    486960636 958451333111476 3549514061779399030 N
    486325655 958450613111548 5308228153934572751 N
  • 10km Race – 6AM
    487240959 958451683111441 4673707531534973226 N
  • 5km Fun Run – 7.15AM
  • 3km Fun Run – 7.30AM
    486396623 958451436444799 1089492637384674783 N

And guess what? It’s inclusive too — the run is open to all age groups, including our beloved OKU (Persons with Disabilities) community, in support of the government’s “Sukan Untuk Semua” (“Sports for All”) initiative.

And to turn this into a more competitive affair, this year’s Half Marathon is further divided into two categories: the International Open and Malaysia Open, which means you might be running next to someone from across the globe.

Finally, rumour has it that even our very own national athletes may be joining us for the run too, so don’t forget to give them a warm welcome when you run past them!

3. Reward yourselves with top-notch goodies

After you’ve finished your run, ‘feast’ on an exclusive goodie bag filled with yums and refreshments from sponsors like:

  • Red Bull Malaysia
  • F&N 100PLUS
  • Nestlé Milo
  • Mamee
  • Fruit Plus
  • Amino Vital
  • Pharmaton
  • Fitbar
  • N8 Energy Gel
  • Cap Kelapa Laut

Basically, you’ll run, you’ll sweat, and then you’ll be rewarded with a mini buffet in a bag. #WorthIt
