Kindergartens Will Be Allowed to Reopen Starting 1 July, Says Defence Minister

In his daily press conference today (15 June), Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that preschools and kindergartens will be allowed to reopen starting 1 July 2020.

According to The Star, the special ministers came to this decision in a meeting after they were briefed on the standard operating procedures (SOP).

As of now, there are 6,216 pre-schools registered under the Education Ministry, 7,887 private pre-schools under the Unity Ministry and 8,530 under the Community Development Department (Kemas) of the Rural and Regional Department.

Details of the SOP will be announced by the Ministry of Education at a later date.
