KidZania Singapore just announced yesterday (16 June) that they will be shutting down after four years in business.

In a Facebook post, they wrote that they will not be reopening upon the lifting of circuit breaker measures and other social restrictions. However, they did not give any reasons for their closure.

“We’ve had the pleasure of being here for four years. We’ve had the joy of entertaining and educating one million kids,” they said.

“We thank you for joining and helping us build a billion memories. ZanK-U and good-bye.”

Netizens were saddened by the news with many saying that they will miss KidZania while some parents said they had promised to bring their kids there once the circuit breaker was lifted.

“So sad to see you go… My kids and I absolutely love this place and have spent their birthdays there each time. Thank you for all the fun and imagination you have brought us. We will miss you. :'(” a netizen said.

“Please don’t close… I’m waiting for you guys to reopen after the CB, I promised my son to bring him there for being such a good boy during the CB. Although our annual pass expired some time ago, we kept the kidzos so that we can rejoin and have more fun.” one parent said.

“Very sad news….and so sudden! My child is finally old enough to enter KidZania and I’m looking forward to the easing measures to bring her there. I patiently waited for the day and well…”

Others even said they had already bought tickets for next year.

“So sad!!! We have been going since the soft opening and till now! We still have the tickets that we have bought and planned to go in March!”

“My kid saved a whole year’s worth of Kidzos to redeem the present he wants and our annual pass just expired before the CB. We were intending to head back to play and redeem after CB. How may we redeem them now?”

KidZania Singapore was one of the tourist attractions that rolled out digital initiatives earlier this year in response to the circuit breaker period. The company launched a social media content series called #KidZaniaAtHome in April, when it celebrated its fourth year of operation, reported Straits Times.

The KidZania brand is an international franchise with 29 facilities in 22 countries worldwide according to its website, including locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Manila.
