Registrations for the Central Database Hub (PADU) will be closed this Sunday (31 March) and it looks like the database has received many last-minute signups, with 9.24 million people already registering as of 11.59pm yesterday (28 March).
One of the notable individuals who registered yesterday was former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, though he faced difficulties in doing so, as someone used his IC number to sign up, further raising concerns about the security of the database.
Khairy received an error when registering for PADU
Taking to his official Instagram account, Khairy revealed that he finally found the time yesterday to register for PADU but when he tried to do so, he received an error message saying that he has an existing account on the database.
Sharing a photo of his computer screen in an Instagram Story, the error prompt asserted,
“Your account already exists. Log in to update your information or contact the PADU Hotline 1-800-88-7720 for assistance.”
In an overlaid text on the Instagram Story, Khairy shared his frustrations with PADU, stressing,
“So, finally got around to register for PADU today. I was just about to sign up and failed. I have never registered before!”

Someone used Khairy’s IC number to register an account on PADU
8 hours after the first Instagram Story, Khairy gave an update on the situation, revealing that he finally managed to register after getting some help from PADU.
In another Instagram Story, the former Health Minister shared a screenshot of his successful registration and elaborated on why his registration was rejected before.

Khairy said that PADU saw his Instagram Story about his rejected registration and reseted his IC number on the database.
The former Health Minister then revealed that he had been a victim of identity theft as apparently, someone had misused his IC number to register for PADU after the individual had been doxxed online.
Khairy asserted,
“Some guy registered by using my IC number. His identity has been doxxed online. Which I’m not sure is a good thing. 2 wrongs don’t make a right.”
“Right thing to do is to make a police report for identify theft, which I will do. Not dox and leak that guy’s info online. That invites more suspicion against PADU. Anyway, now I’ve registered and submitted e-KYC.”
However, the identity of the individual who used his IC number and their connection to Khairy was not revealed.
