A 29-year-old woman filed a police report after claiming her OKU brother was treated horribly by some neighbour’s kids in Kedah.

In an interview with Sinar Harian, Zaihan revealed that her 40-year-old schizophrenic brother, known as Bang Pit, has often been harassed, including a recent incident where a few of their neighbour’s kids allegedly urinated on him.

“They keep making fun of his condition”

Zaihan posted about the incident on Facebook, saying her brother had been living with schizophrenia since he was 6, and that her family has done their best to care for him for over 40 years.

“The neighbour’s kids keep making fun of his condition like it’s a joke. He’s told us before that they threw stones at him, but we didn’t have any proof. Recently, I saw it myself where they threw firecrackers at him while he was just sitting in the garage,” she said.

In a separate incident, Zaihan also revealed that CCTV footage allegedly showed the kids setting fire to clothes hung on the fence and climbing into the compound, even though the gate was locked.

“It’s heartbreaking and frustrating”

Meanwhile, Pendang District Police Chief Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan confirmed receiving the report.

“We’ve done everything we can to take care of him, so it’s just heartbreaking and frustrating when the neighbours don’t stop their kids from sneaking in and messing with my brother, both physically and emotionally,” Zaihan explained.

She added that the community needs to be more aware and respectful toward people with mental health issues and the families who care for them.
