Yes, we know this Raya is not the same for many Malaysians but nevertheless, this should not ruin the festivities.
And we guess this is the mindset for the residents of Kampung Baru, Sri Gading as they chose to make the best of the situation.
Looking to lift the Raya spirits, these residents used 2,021 lamps to create a mosque illusion called Masjid Pelita (Mosque of Lamps) which illuminates at night and greets people at the entrance of the village.
According to Berita Harian, Kampung Baru Light Gate Project Coordinator, Mohd Azam Isnin, said the residents made initial preparations to rebuild the gate a month before Ramadan and the selection of 2,021 lamps this time is in conjunction with the year 2021.
“We did the process of rebuilding the lamp gate with a more attractive new design, a month before Ramadan.
Compared to last year, we have added 15 workers involving youths in the village to help complete the gate of the lamp,” he said.
Mohd Azam explained that the use of pelita in the structure was to encourage residents to carry on with the use of kerosene oil lamps. This is so traditional culture can be kept alive by current and future generations.
All their hard work finally paid off in the end, as the structure garnered positive feedback from residents and attention online from netizens, as reported by BERNAMA.
Azam hoped that it would bring joy to the local community in the days leading up to Hari Raya 2021. He hopes to encourage and cheer up communities in surrounding kampungs.
