Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah has resigned from his position as Minister of Energy and Natural Resources as of 3 August 2021.
In a statement, he first thanks Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for giving him the opportunity to serve as a minister in the cabinet and also thanked the UMNO leadership for recommending him to be a Minister in the Federal Government.
“Taking into account some of the results and stances of the party, as a UMNO member who is obedient and loyal to the party, I hereby resign as a Member of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Government,” he said.
“I thank all parties and all the staff of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.”
He added that he will now focus on his duties as the Member of Parliament for Lenggong and to “help strengthen the party in the face of increasingly challenging political situations.”
