In his latest address to the nation today, Minister of Defense Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob has received confirmation from the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, that barber shops, hair salons and optical shops across Malaysia are forbidden to operate throughout the duration of the Movement Control Order.

This is in order to address concerns that Malaysians have had over the likelihood of the Covid-19 virus spreading, should these businesses be allowed to operate. Previously, barbers, optical shops and hair salons were permitted to operate in green-zones, before this decision was withdrawn.

Coincidentally, businesses that were allowed to operate according to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s guidelines were expected to register their applications with the Ministry today (13th April 2020), starting by 9 am this morning. However, the Ministry’s site crashed after receiving over 100,000 applications from businesses requesting for permission to operate during the MCO.

What do you guys think of this development?
