If you have an elderly at home who’s not so tech-savvy, it’s no doubt your responsibility to guide them on how to navigate the devices and keep our parents up to date. As for veteran actor Jackie Chan, he admitted to being an outdated person, which he has no issues with!
In a recent interview during a talk show, Jackie did not only spend the time to talk about his recently-released movie, Ride On but also how he’s having a tough time understanding about what the youth are up to nowadays. When asked about being a little out of touch with times, Jackie said,
“I’m having a hard time talking to many young people. I can’t understand what they’re saying, and their language is out of touch with me.”
It’s not just the language and the terminologies that the youth are using. In terms of modern-day filming, Jackie admitted that he was shocked to see 40 cameras are arranged and used just to film a variety show.
“Phone is a waste of time”
When it comes to daily communication on the phone, Jackie said that he does not even have a WeChat account, a messaging platform that is popular among Chinese users. Expectedly, the legendary actor seems to have no problem with that and said that screen time is 1 of the most time-wasting things that one can ever do.
“I realised that we waste a lot of time on the phone.”
He then explained what he would rather spend his precious time on, and said,
“I would rather spend time on my thinking, watching movies, listen to good songs, explore good scripts and read some good stuff.”
Jackie does have an official Instagram account, and while it is most probably handled by his helper, it’s obvious that Jackie himself is not fond of updating the tidbits of his life on social media. His latest post on IG was back in late January during the CNY season, and the post that precedes his CNY post was on July 2022.
You can watch the video below where Jackie speaks more about his career which spans more than 6 decades.
Come to think of it, despite being a little out of touch with times and the youth, Jackie Chan still managed to produce good, humorous, and heartwarming movies. Does he remind you of your elderly at home?
