Cayson Goh, a Malaysian man from Johor Bahru, is out to clear his name after a Facebook post under his name that insulted the King went viral.
According to Cayson, it was a case of identity theft, as his name and pictures were stolen and misused to create another fake Facebook account, in which the insensitive remark was made. Cayson explained that the fake account has only 11 friends, while his real account, which is verified by Meta, has nearly 4,000 connections.

The matter was also confirmed by Cayson on his real Facebook account.
Cayson held a press conference on Friday (April 18) in Taman Setia Tropika, Johor Bahru, to issue a public apology to the King and assured the public that as a Johorean himself, he has no intention to insult the King of Malaysia, who is also the Sultan of Johor.
Not Cayson’s first identity theft
The circulated post likened the King in an ill-mannered way, which was made during President Xi Jin Ping’s 3-day visit to Malaysia.

At the press conference, Cayson also said that he had lodged a police report for the matter.
“I’ve also reported the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).”
“I have never said anything in the viral post, and I have never insulted the King. I am the victim of an attack from an irresponsible party.”

Cayson also revealed that this was not the first time that somebody misused his identity for ill purposes, and in the past, his pictures were also used to create fake social media accounts to tarnish his image and reputation. His images were previously misused in a gambling advertisement.
This time, the matter worsened as Cayson said netizens had been threatening him online, saying that they would find his address and identify his contact number.

“I feel the safety of my family and me is threatened. The pressure is immense. As an influencer, I am well aware that my images are public and it’s easy for others to abuse my pictures.”
In the meantime, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said PDRM is investigating the matter and confirmed that Cayson has lodged a report in fear for his safety, reported BERNAMA.
