Malaysian cross-dresser who went viral for “laughing” at Pak Lah’s death has broken the silence and insisted that everything is just a misunderstanding.

In a video posted on his Facebook last night (April 15), the cross-dresser, Deacon Chai, who goes by the stage name Xiao Honey, started with an apology for the matter that got him under fire and clarified that he meant no disrespect to Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister by leaving “Hahaha” in the comment section of a Facebook post reporting on the former PM’s death.

Deacon also assured the public that it was never his intention to make the “Hahaha” incident viral, and said he did not do this for engagement.

“The branding Xiao Honey is already well known in East and West Malaysia, even in Singapore.”

“I don’t need to make this viral to promote myself.”

Deacon, who was standing in the rain in the video says he is grateful to those who “lent him an umbrella” during the rainy days and is baffled by those who unnecessarily circulated the matter regarding his insensitive comment about Pak Lah’s death.

Using the rainy day as a metaphor for his temporary hiccup, Deacon said it has allowed him to see who has always supported and understood him.

“I will not care about the bad things you say about me. Those who understand me will continue to accept me, and haters will continue to dislike me even after this apology video.”

“You will continue to point out my flaws. This is not my first setback and this time, I still have to face this alone.”

Deacon added that he felt ashamed for the matter and didn’t wish to explain further and apologised for the discomfort that he may have caused. At the end of the day, Deacon asked for everyone’s understanding.

“I’ve always treated you all with love, and I hope everyone can understand this situation with a heart full of love in return.”

In 2022, Deacon was arrested by PDRM with another cross-dresser, Bryan Wee for behaving indecently in Johor Bahru. The duo was later released and publicly apologised for the matter.

What do you think of Deacon’s explanation?
