Yesterday (January 30), Malaysians were left shocked after a floating tube from the 60meter-high and 600m-long glass water slide at Menara SkyCity, i-City, had fallen from its track while heading back up the slide and had allegedly hit a visitor of the theme park below.
A video of the aftermath of the incident was posted online.

Now, according to a report by Sinar Harian, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has stopped the water slide from operating as the attraction allegedly never received a permit to be constructed in the first place.
MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Division Head, Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif, shared that his party had issued a cease and desist notice while the water slide was still under construction, but it was allegedly ignored.
The local authorities then subsequently issued a compound against i-City on November 14, 2024.

“This ride has not yet received approval to operate. They (i-City) need to apply for planning permission (KM) and a temporary permit. i-City was compounded for not applying for approval before operating,”
“There was a notice to stop during construction but they did not comply, so MBSA issued the compound. The stop work notice and compound were issued on November 14 of last year. This ride will be asked to stop operating,” he explained.
The glass water slide attraction had gone viral since its launch on January 18 (Saturday), as it provided i-City visitors with a thrilling ride with breathtaking views of the Klang Valley.
